The MT Youth Challenge Academy is seeking to fill a Medication Pass Technician position.
Montana Youth Challenge Academy is a residential academic intervention program on the campus of the University of Montana Western for 16-18 year old students who are at risk of high school dropout. Designed by the National Guard Bureau and run through a cooperative agreement between the federal government and the state of Montana, the Academy offers military style structure and discipline along with academic, professional, and life-coping skills students need to become productive citizens. The Academy's staff are professionals from a variety of backgrounds who share a dedication to our mission and who enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and rewarding environment.
Responsibility is to supervise Cadet's self-administration of prescription and/or over-the-counter medications in exact accordance with the terms of the prescription. Must maintain accurate data related to medication self-administration in the Medical Accountability Record, and must verify Cadet identify, dosage, and correct self-administration in 100% of instances. May be expected to occasionally perform other duties in support of on going program operations.
Must have demonstrated ability to engage and work in diverse working environments within and outside the department. Med Pass services will be conducted on MYCA site during all weeks of its residential phase. The work involves risk and requires special safety precautions for such things as exposure to bodily fluids, contagious diseases, and infection, or in working with emotionally disturbed patients.
The Medication Passers will be required to work in a dynamic environment with 16-19-year-old at-risk youth.
The Medication Passers will be required to use protective clothing or personal protective equipment when necessary.
Typical work hours vary between 2 - 8 hrs weekly.

Experience:
This position requires past training in or willingness to be trained in Medication Pass for self-administration protocols.
Successful candidates will possess an understanding of medication-related terminology and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate record keeping is vital. This position also requires ability to maintain confidentiality and to engage with cadets and Academy staff in a polite, cooperative, and professional manner at all times.
Conditions of employment: must pass a background check and a pre-employment drug test.
