Performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components. Studies blood cells, their numbers, and morphology, using microscopic technique. Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes. Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer. Engages in medical research under direction of the Lead Medical Technologist. Uses data and information to identify and perform problem solving skills that supports the safety and quality of laboratory services.
Education:
Required: Medical Technologis(MT) : Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university (degree must be in Medical Technology) or military equivalent experience and registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), MT (AMT), or CLS (NCA) or - Baccalaureate degree from any accredited college/university; degree must be in Medical Technology or military equivalent experience
Medical Lab Technologist (MLT): Associates degree from an approved MLT (CLT) school or military equivalent experience and registered or eligible for registration as a Medical Lab Technologist, MLT (ASCP) or - Associates degree from an approved MLT (CLT) school or military equivalent experience
Experience:
Preferred: 2 years hospital experience
Licenses/Certificates:
Preferred: Certification/registration or certification/registry eligible as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician
