Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Medical Scribe Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Directors of the Medical Scribe Program and to the Director of Provider Practice, this position manages all medical scribes, support senior leadership of the program, and augments strategic and operational leadership. The medical scribe manager shares responsibility for ensuring excellence in clinical and financial outcomes and employee engagement. They are responsible for program recruitment, hiring, compensation, training and professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Medical Scribe Manager position encompasses both management and administrative duties. Responsibilities include:

  • Manages and oversees Medical Scribe support of clinical providers in a manner that expedites care, improves the effectiveness of clinical interactions, and supports provider achievement f desired productivity levels
  • Manages the scribe cohort, including recruitment, interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, conducting performance evaluations, and managing performance of direct reports
  • Prepares and oversees clinical work schedules, including unanticipated coverage as needed
  • Establishes an environment that promotes teamwork
  • Develops scribe workflows that meet the program pillars of compliant documentation commensurate with best practices, efficient and effective patient care delivery, provider wellness, and revenue integrity
  • In collaboration with the Scribe Medical Director and Clinical Informatics, schedules and conducts regular (4-6 annually) group continuing education sessions to the scribe cohort
  • Provides clear expectations and standards of accountability to ensure program consistency with the organizational mission and vision
  • Successfully prioritizes and resolve HR- and IT-related issues
  • Develops protocols and procedures for new growth in the medical scribe program


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Management, General Studies or a related Healthcare discipline
  • At least two years of experience as a medial scribe
  • At least one year of experience in a lead or coordinator role
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of progressive managerial/administrative experience in providing oversight and direction of staff, development of departmental policies, monitoring budgets, and coordinating departmental projects
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Strong organizational and customer/patient service skills are desired as well as the ability to prioritize work based on volume and deadlines
  • Healthcare experience is preferred
  • Displays high standards with regard to attendance, punctuality and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of personal computer systems and various software
Leadership/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Skilled in overseeing the efforts of individuals within the department
  • Ability to effectively involve department staff in the application of quality measurement and improvement tools
  • Skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and building inclusive workplace teams
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems and provide instruction on complex processes
  • Capable of assisting managers with decisions and activities
  • Effective use of all Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize and carry-out work
  • Ability to comfortably and effectively facilitate meetings and feedback sessions
