The Medical & Scientific Liaison will provide clinical and scientific education to assist in improving the overall standard of care for patients.  They develop and maintain strong relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including clinical advisors, clinicians, professional organizations, and patient advocacy groups. They will also collaborate closely with our sales and marketing team members, helping support our commercial growth strategies through clinical education and scientific partnerships. The Medical & Scientific Liaison provides medical and scientific education and support for The Binding Site’s products.  

A day in the Life:

  • Gives presentations (both virtual and in-person) to key opinion leaders, C-suite executives, clinical investigators, physicians, clinical laboratory personnel, and other key customers in support of Lab/PACE, Lunch and Learns, grand rounds, CLMA, physician groups, and patient support groups.
  • Engages in scientific conversations with medical and scientific experts, including healthcare professionals and researchers. Identifies key opinion leaders and builds a key opinion leader network to support scientific, commercial, and marketing objectives.
  • Works closely with sales and marketing team members to support key customers scientifically with co-marketing opportunities, market development, scientific partnerships, and product related issues.
  • Attends relevant regional and national trade shows and scientific conferences, representing The Binding Site. This may include presenting scientific data in a scientific forum (abstract, poster, seminar), booth duties and customer meetings.
  • Acts as an internal consultant, helping support the sales, marketing, and development team by providing on the ground voice of customer feedback and scientific expertise.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of Binding Site products in the context of analytic/clinical performance, manufacture, and QA release, is able to answer customer concerns as needed. 
  • Participates in special projects supporting the scientific affairs function, including scientific writing (abstracts, papers, posters) and building scientific affairs tools and resources (slide decks, internal training tools).

Keys to Success:

Education
  • Advanced clinical/science degree required (e.g. MD, NP, PA, PharmD, PhD).
Experience
  • Valid Passport is required.
  • Travel required could be substantial, 50-75% with occasional weekend travel; Most travel would be domestic, with occasional international travel (most likely Europe).
  • Experience working in the US healthcare industry.
  • 3+ years working with patients in a clinic (preferred) or hospital environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience with general medicine, diagnostics, or oncology is required.
  • Proven track record giving scientific presentations to medical or scientific audiences is required.
  • Experience teaching or giving lectures about oncology or immunology topics to a diverse audience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong customer and patient focus; able to understand and respond to customer needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibits a collaborative, team-oriented approach, willing to work with sales, marketing, and scientific/medical affairs colleagues.
  • Self-motivated, with good time management and organizational skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The employee will be required to stand and/or walk up to 6 hours a day and sit for up to 8 hours a day; use hands to handle or feel objects including keyboard and telephones.
  • Employee must be able to travel by various forms of transportation, most frequently car and airplane, to visit customers face to face.  May require long period of time sitting while traveling.
  • May need to reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch;
  • The employee will be required to talk and hear and have specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  May be required to lift larger amounts when traveling (i.e. luggage).
  • The noise level in the work environment will vary by location but is usually moderate.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $95,900.00–$143,875.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
