Job Description

About the role:

As a Medical Records Specialist, you are responsible for managing our patients’ Medical Records.  This could include filing paper records or scanning and uploading documents into our EMR.  Aside from maintaining records, you will create new patient records and maintain discharge records as well.  You will also be responsible for working with our nursing agency partners to ensure quality of care and maintenance of those records also.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists nursing department with printing delivery tickets and attaching to nursing notes and scans to patient EMR
• Sends out physician plans of treatment and free form orders for signature and tracks returns. Works with the sales representatives to obtain timely signatures.
• Reviews hardcopy Medical Records upon patient discharge, asses for duplications.

Qualifications

What you bring:

• Extensive knowledge of insurance carrier procedures
• Knowledge of and an analytical understanding of EDI, ERA, EFT’s
• 2+ years of medical billing or rev cycle experience (payments & claims)
