Medical Records Specialist

Job Overview:  Health by Design has an immediate TEMP / PART TIME opening for a Medical Records Specialists. They will organize and maintain information both in paper files and in electronic systems, checking for accuracy, record information, and keep file folders and electronic databases up-to-date. Data includes patient information, medical histories, physician exams, test results, treatments, and services provided. May consult with physicians and other health care professionals to make sure information is accurate and must follow best practices for security and patient confidentiality. 

Prior family medicine and/or multi-specialty experience preferred!  Position offers a flexible schedule (minimum 10 hours a week, 2-3 days a week), This is a HYBRID role and the individual will work in the office and from home. This position will lead to a full time temp position around March - May.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain Medical Records 
• Update patients' electronic health records (EHR) 
• Respond to release of information requests for Medical Records 
• Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information 
• Ensure that clinical documentation of the services provided to our patients is correct 
• Receive incoming fax documentation and file in appropriate Medical Records 
• Follow all HIPAA regulations 
• Perform other clerical duties as needed 

Requirements

• Knowledge of medical terminology 
• Excellent computer skills 
• Attention to detail 
• Good communication skills 
• Excellent typing skills 
• 
  
• Education: High school diploma or GED 
• Experience:  3-4 years Medical Records experience preferred 
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
