Position Highlights:
- Position: Outpatient Lead Coder
- Location: Hybrid
- Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
- Hours: Monday-Friday, during normal business hours
What you will need:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or an Associate's Degree
- Required Certification: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Experience: 3+ years of related experience in Outpatient facility coding
- Required Skills:
- Experience with Epic EHR and 3M Coding Systems is a plus
- Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; state and federal Medicare reimbursement guidelines
- Ability to research and analyze data, draw conclusions, and resolve issues; read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations
- Ability to read and interpret medical procedures and terminology.
- Ability to develop training materials, make group presentations, and to train staff
- Ability to exercise independent judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports and related documents and to maintain working relationships
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
What you will do:
- Perform second level coding reviews of outpatient facility claims using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines and provide feedback
- Act as a liaison interdepartmentally and be a resource subject matter expert
- Develop and deliver coder education to improve coding accuracy and completeness
- Conduct new employee and on-going training
- Handle patient information with discretion and integrity
- Ensure actionable items are resolved timely or escalated appropriately
- Assist Supervisor with various tasks as needed
- Manages special projects as assigned by Manager
- Complete all other duties as assigned
