Job Title: Medical Receptionist

Washington Health Institute seeks a bilingual (English and Spanish speaking) Medical Receptionist to support the front desk duties of the practice. The ideal candidate will be an energetic and experienced Medical Receptionist with the ability to create a warm and welcoming environment for WHI’s diverse patient population. The Medical Receptionist must have exceptional written and oral communication, including telephone etiquette. The Medical Receptionist also will complete prior authorizations, process medical record requests, and close referral completion processes.

Patient Registration responsibilities include:
- Oversee and optimize patient flow from scheduling to registration, check-in to check-out, and collection of copays/coinsurance.
- Answer telephones and welcome patients warmly and efficiently to the clinic.
- Assist with submission of prior authorizations.
- Provide follow-up to ensure referral completion and to obtain referral progress notes.
- Process and send medical records.
- Check office voicemail and respond to patient requests within one hour.
- Coordinate with Medical Assistant to clear electronic faxes.
- Schedule in-person and telehealth appointments, verify insurance eligibility, handle correspondence with patient and referral sites.
- Update patient contact information and medical records before each visit.
- Assist with billing and coding in coordination with Billing & Practice Manager
- Participate in clinical quality management team meetings; generate ideas to improve patient satisfaction and workflow.
- Keep waiting rooms and staff conference rooms organized and clean.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Inventory office supplies weekly and report supplies needs to supervisor.
- Coordinate with Case Management staff and interns to schedule appointments and resolve patient issues.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Foster positive office morale
- Respond to emails and scheduling inquiries within one hour.
- Assist with drafting clinic notices and patient correspondence.
- Handle deliveries, process mail, place calls for Physicians and Executives as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum of three years’ experience as a Medical Receptionist. Spanish speaking. Promotes positive teamwork environment and helps to foster high staff morale. Practices excellent customer service to all patients and visitors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Adept at problem solving and generating solutions. Strong ability to multi-task. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Able to practice high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, patient safety, and infection control.

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
