Job Summary and Qualifications

1. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.

2. Promotes customer service initiative.

3. Provides Physics support to the Radiation Oncology Department

4. Calibrates radiation therapy equipment in the radiation therapy department per departmental, state or federal requirements.

5. Implements and evaluates quality assurance programs for therapy equipment/department

6. Verifies treatment plans

7. Participates in chart rounds

8. Monitors treatment planning software and implements new software updates

9. Develops and implements physics aspects of all new treatment modalities

10. Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.

11. Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.

12. Maintains the principles of confidentiality. Understands the legal/regulatory requirements related to the release of information. Able to use the information systems pertinent to the job.

13. Performs computerized treatment planning and associated duties. Maintans computer programs, installs updates, and assures accuracy of data produced.

14. Performs all duties associated with maintain state radiation licenses and assures that departmental functions meet state standards.

15. Actively participates QA program for all radiation producing machines and associated equipment. Assists with correcting malfunctions of radiation producing machines or makes appropriate referrals to correct and/or repair units.

16. Periodically, and at least annually, reviewing and auditing the institution's radiation safety program for compliance with Florida D.O.H Radioactive Materials License's requirements and proper basic radiation safety protocol.

17. Performs other related functions as assigned.

What qualifications you will need: 

  • PhD. or M.S. - Therapeutic Radiological Physics
  • 3 years experience preferred
  • Board Certification
  • Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications, customer service, math, analysis, reading, following instruction, basic computer usage.
