Medical Office Receptionist

Our busy optometry practice is looking for a full time front desk associate. Do you have experience in customer service? Are you timely, organized, and do you have great attention to detail? This could be the right fit for you!

Job Description:

As one of our front desk associates, you will be part of a team responsible for checking patients in and out, answering phones, and ensuring the doctors’ schedules run smoothly. As the first stop for patients entering the office, or calling in, all front desk associates must be friendly and courteous, and be able to work as a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Excellent customer service is our number one priority
• Maintaining and updating schedules for three optometrists
• Answering phones, forwarding calls, and relaying messages as necessary
• Pulling insurance benefits (Medicare, VSP, Eyemed, to name a few) and explaining benefits to patients
• Checking patients in, including verifying ID, entering demographics, and working up charts for doctors
• Calling patients to discuss insurance benefits, scheduling, materials ready for pickup, and more
• Checking patients out, including taking balances and scheduling follow-up appointments
• Filing and general secretarial work

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Proficient computer knowledge, and ability to learn new programs quickly
• Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
• Experience in customer service, office administration, or medical administration is preferred
• Knowledge of Office Mate and Eyefinity EHR is a plus

General Office Information & Benefits

• Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:30, and Saturdays 8:30-12:00. All staff is required to work one to three Saturdays a month. Occasionally staff will be required to work until about 6:00pm.
• Medical insurance is available after 90 days, paid in part by the company.
• Dental is available after 90 days, at no cost to the employee.
• 401(k) is available after 1 year of employment, with a company match.
• Life insurance is provided after 90 days of employment, at no cost to the employee.
