GENERAL DUTIES:
- Receive, greet, and direct patients, visitors, and hospital personnel; provide accurate responses in a friendly, courteous, and concerned manner.
- Screen, record, and redirect telephone calls.
- Take accurate phone messages and relay information in 30-60 minutes.
- Medical Office Clerk will verify that all required information on encounter forms is properly completed at the conclusion of each patient encounter.
- Reconcile all appointed patent encounter forms, other than same-day appointments or walk-in patients with the correct patient record. Encounter forms are printed automatically daily.
- Ensure patient forms are completed before sending to clinical personnel and before the medical records are filed at the visit conclusion per MTF filing protocols.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MANDATORY: Federal Background Investigation will be required.
- Office Clerk to review all incoming paperwork via patient inquiry, mail, and fax; add proper patient identifiers to every page of paperwork; route paperwork to appropriate nursing staff and providers; input notes into electronic health record and/or generate a telephone consult into electronic health records.
- Scan results of diagnostic tests and patient’s plan of care, received from outside facilities, into electronic documentation of patient’s notes in the patient’s electronic health record in the electronic health record system.
- Schedule follow-up patient appointments and perform patient appointment notifications per the MTF scheduling and notification procedures; coordinate patient appointments to avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Prompt preventative exam appointments during routine patient checkout if noted on the patient care plan.
- Provide accurate and timely technical and administrative reports and correspondence such as ER records, outpatient studies/reports, and input of HEDIS information to providers for completion of patient records.
- Telephone outside medical facilities requesting documentation for patients requiring follow-up care.
- Telephone patient to inform patient of medication refill placed by medical provider; schedule follow up appointment due to lab and/or x-ray results.
