Medical Massage Therapist

M & M Home Care and Kneaded Relief Massage & Spa is seeking an experienced Medical Massage Therapist specializing in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). Your primary responsibility is to provide specialized massage therapy services to individuals with SCI in an outpatient setting.

You will work closely with other healthcare professionals (OT and PT) and customize massage treatments to address the unique needs and challenges associated with spinal cord injuries.

This position is NOT for the spa/beauty parlor mentality. We are seeking long term relationships with serious minded, experienced medical licensed Massage Therapists. WeREQUIRE 3+ years experience working routinely and directly with Spinal Cord Injury patients as a Massage Therapist.

DAYS: M-F - No Weekends
SHIFT: 8:30 - 4:30

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation:

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients with SCI, considering their medical history, physical condition, and any specific concerns or limitations.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to gather relevant information and insights.

Treatment Planning:

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment, taking into account the client's specific SCI-related issues, such as muscle atrophy, spasticity, or sensory changes.
• Coordinate with other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to the client's care.

Adaptive Techniques:

• Utilize massage techniques that are adapted to accommodate the unique needs and challenges of individuals with SCI.
• Modify positioning, pressure, and movements to ensure comfort and safety.

Communication and Education:

• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their preferences, concerns, and goals for massage therapy.
• Provide education on the benefits of massage therapy for SCI, addressing questions and promoting a collaborative approach to care.

Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate and detailed client records via a EMR - documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress, and any relevant observations.
• Ensure compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards.

Collaboration with Healthcare Team:

• Work closely with occupational and physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and adjust treatment plans based on evolving health conditions..

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan license as a Massage Therapist.
• REQUIRED 3+ years experience working directly with Spinal Cord Injury patients as a Massage Therapist.
• Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to SCI.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion, empathy, and patience in working with individuals facing SCI challenges.
• Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Work Environment: This role will involve working in medical setting / rehabilitation centers. The therapist should be comfortable collaborating with healthcare professionals and adapting to various environments.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $60.00 - $72.95 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
