Description
Responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing various Medical Equipment.
1. Assembles, maintains, and repairs various Medical Equipment.
2. Collaborates and coordinates with equipment manufacturers, third party vendors, and multiple clinic staff to provide timely equipment contract renewals, to make requests for warranty & contracted service repairs, and to conduct preventive maintenance (PM) appointments.
3. Trains and supervises student workers in equipment repair and maintenance.
4. Cleans and adjusts various Medical Equipment.
5. Calibrates Medical Equipment & machinery to determine working status and what needs repair or replacement.
6. Provides recommendations on new and replacement equipment assuring it meets regulations.
7. Demonstrates bioMedical Equipment and teaches others how to use it.
8. Prepares reports by analyzing and collecting data and trends.
9. Keeps records of all maintenance and repairs.
10. Maintains an accurate and current equipment inventory.
11. Processes and coordinates equipment to be sent to medical surplus.

Qualifications
Associates and 5 years experience
Education: Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristic of this field. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: Requires a Texas Drivers License.
The department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
Preferred Qualification:
Prior experience in preventative maintenance and repair of phoropters, slit lamps, and Zeiss ophthalmic equipment is preferred.
Additional Information:
The position will be located onsite in the University of Houston College of Optometry. Typical work week is Monday through Friday during normal business hours (8am - 6pm). The position will report to the Associate Dean, Clinical Operations. Travel requirements are minimal and infrequent.
