What you will be doing:

The Medical Director is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care. He/She provides the development and evaluation of mid-level personnel and maintains the optional medical aspects of the patient care unit.

Considered expert health care providers and work in tandem with medical doctors. Performance standards are integrated within the position responsibilities. The principle functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position.


Our ideal candidate has:

  • Participates in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings as necessary
  • Completes countersignature for psych evaluation, H&P, Master Treatment Plan and lab work in accordance with timeframe needed for compliance
  • Development of admission criteria
  • Development of treatment protocols
  • Providing or arranging for daily medical coverage to meet patient needs
  • Determination of the credentials required of other physicians working under the Medical Director
  • Determination of the credentials required of the clinicians who may prescribe pharmacotherapies
  • Oversight of CLIA licensure and ensures waived testing competency is completed for staff that have these duties
  • Levels of care supervised will include the following, as determined by the scope of services offered at the facility: Detoxification, Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient Services
  • Ensuring the adequacy of individual treatment plans (including medication plans) developed with the participation of professional personnel, including contraindications and precautions
  • Promotes good public relations between program and medical department
  • Abides by safety/risk, infection control, and other guidelines as required
  • Maintains compliance and supervision with established medical/nursing care standards
  • Approves the use of various therapies including pharmacotherapy per protocol
  • Evaluate behavioral problems and diagnosis, and make treatment decisions
  • Ordering consults for other medical specialties as needed
  • Works with Performance Improvement Committee in reviewing, revising, and formulating policies and procedures specific to Program and supervises all changes within the program as needed
  • Providing Utilization Review with the detailed information needed for the appropriate level of care of the patient as required
  • Assists in reporting infection control incidents to Quality Assurance Team Management as needed
  • Ensure that the safety of the patient is our priority at all times
  • Ensure that any patient that is in need of urgent psychiatric care that the mandated action is enforced and that the client is placed in an appropriate facility for such care
  • Assists in ensuring State and Federal regulations, and Joint Commission standards are met and maintained
  • Abides by the provision of 42 CFR Part 2 regarding the confidentiality of alcohol and drug treatment records and all other applicable federal and state laws
  • Demonstrates ability to work with Substance Abuse clients
  • Build positive relationships with staff and clients
  • Represents the program to referral sources, potential patients, and other outside individuals and agencies in a courteous, professional manner that reflects positively on the program and its staff
  • Uses EMR, reports and other items as requested, ensuring that documentation is accurate, as needed by position
  • Has good work habits; get things done a timely, efficient, manner with no excessive absences; is on time on scheduled shifts and prepared to begin work

Additional information:

  • 3-4 days remote with 1- 2 days onsite presence
  • Annual Salary: 9k-11k monthly
