As the Medical Director at Hampstead, I spearhead the implementation and oversight of all clinical programs, ensuring the seamless integration of both new and existing initiatives. My role involves conducting thorough reviews and offering strategic recommendations to the Hospital Administrator for any necessary changes, additions, or enhancements. Tasked with assessing, planning, linking, monitoring, and advocating for each patient under the care of department clinicians, I am dedicated to ensuring the comprehensive delivery of top-tier mental health and medical care tailored to the unique needs of children and adolescents. Additionally, I take an active role in the development and execution of educational programs addressing psychiatric conditions and substance abuse issues, fostering a holistic approach to healthcare.

  • Oversee and lead various committees, including MSO, Medical Executive Committee, and P&T committee, while actively participating in case conferences, second opinions, clinical leadership, and representation on hospital committees, projects, task forces, and PI initiatives. Serve as a liaison with advocates and families, represent the hospital in the community and state, and review referrals for admission.
  • Advocate for patients, reviewing individual practice patterns, leading peer review processes, participating in multidisciplinary teams and court proceedings, and engaging in clinically based PI and best practice projects. Conduct quantitative and qualitative chart reviews, lead morbidity and mortality reviews, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including Joint Commission Standards.
  • Manage the recruitment, evaluation, and retention of psychiatry and medical candidates, evaluating clinical competency, approving licensed independent practitioner privileges, and conducting ongoing performance reviews. Coordinate the Medical Student rotation, providing orientation, lectures, case conferences, and training for other departments.
  • Provide direct psychiatric care to patients, including evaluation, psychopharmacologic treatment, psychotherapy, assessment for movement disorders, court evaluations, and discharges. Demonstrate knowledge of applicable nursing services, TJC standards, and ensure age-specific competency and patient safety.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all clinical and medical departments, including Psychology, Social Work, Pharmacy Services, and general medical services. Ensure adequate staffing for Psychiatry, Medical, and Nursing services, including 24-hour on-call availability.

Education

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited university

Experience

  • Seven years of professional experience in providing services to persons with psychiatric illnesses is preferred, two years of which must have been at the administrative clinical level.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New Hampshire
  • Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Compliance

  • Aligned with NH’s System of Care, supporting services that are: family-driven, youth-guided, community-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally and linguistically competent.

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

We encourage you to apply! If you are excited about a role but your experience doesn’t seem to align perfectly with every element of the job description, we encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this, or one of our many other roles.
