Position Overview: (Full Time / 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
The Medical Data Entry Specialist will be responsible for accurately and efficiently entering Medical Data and records into our computer system database, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and maintaining the integrity and security of Medical Database records. This position requires familiarity with medical terminology, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and excellent customer service communication skills. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the reimbursement process for medical procedures.
Job/Duties/Responsibilities:
The Medical Data Entry Specialist is responsible for working as a member of our reimbursement case intake team to enter all of the relevant information and documents required for our benefit verification, authorization, and appeals support teams.
The Medical Data Entry Specialist must be able to:
· Enter Medical Data into the computer system database with high accuracy and efficiency.
· Monitor Data Entry accuracy to ensure data integrity and completeness.
· Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient data confidentiality.
· Review documents and forms for accuracy and completeness before entering data.
· Assist in other Data Entry projects as assigned, collaborating with the team to meet deadlines.
· Adhere to all Data Entry rules, guidelines, and quality standards.
· Multitask effectively while maintaining an elevated level of accuracy in Data Entry.
· Troubleshoot Data Entry problems and errors to ensure data accuracy.
· Provide support and assistance to other Data Entry staff members as needed.
· Effectively communicate with healthcare providers to clarify or to obtain required information.
· Document all interactions and calls within a case management database.
· Maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
· Work independently and within a team setting.
· Provide services in a high-volume work environment.
Required Skill Set:
The Medical Data Entry Specialist must possess exceptional computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and superb organizational skills.
· Extensive experience working with Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
· Proficient Data Entry skills.
· Superior written communication skills.
· High level computer skills related to working within an integrated network system.
· Excellent administrative skills with the ability to multitask.
· Ability to adapt to different situations, on the fly.
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
· Self-motivation with excellent follow-through skills.
· Ability to work independently with minimal-to-moderate supervision.
· Adaptive and flexible to innovative ideas and change.
· Ability to understand medical reimbursement methodologies.
· Understanding of HIPAA and legal requirements associated with protected health information.
· Fluency in medical terminology.
Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience:
Prior experience working in a Medical Data Entry position.
· 2-3 years of medical billing & coding, medical insurance, reimbursement support, or related experience.
· 3 years of health insurance experience working with HCPCS, CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes.
· Demonstrated familiarity with all payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, etc.).
· Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
· Technical Expertise: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
