Medical Coding Supervisor - Genesis OB/GYN - Remote

The Coding Supervisor provides oversight and supervision of the coding function of the organization to meet organizational goals.  This role identifies opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness, monitors benchmarks and reviews performance statistics. The Supervisor works with individual departments and Care Center staff to support the goals and protocols of the coding/billing workflows and revenue affecting tasks. This individual must be able to collaborate with all team members, assist with escalations and support processing of clinic professional charges. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supports the coding and billing operations of the organization, serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Distributing work among the Coding team to drive work allocation and productivity management. Provides daily supervision of coding staff.
  • Performs the duties of Coding Specialists, as needed.
  • Provides daily direction to and supervision of assigned staff to include monitoring of quality and productivity performance, hiring, interviewing, onboarding, training, mentoring, performance evaluation and communication, and corrective actions.
  • Provides or arranges for necessary knowledge-based resources required by the coding staff to meet quality and production standards.
  • Leads opportunities to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitates team meetings, monitors continuing education opportunities and disseminating information to teams.
  • Supports and "open door" environment for staff to raise billing related issues as they happen and providing support as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with reporting, coding, and other policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree from an accredited college preferred.
  • Current coding certification (CPC, CCS)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in revenue cycle management, coding or other healthcare related field pertinent to reimbursement of physician, ancillary or hospital services. Strong preference for experience with coding and billing guidelines for OB/GYN and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialties. 
  • Strong knowledge of coding policies and procedures, reimbursement practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working in athenanet preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues effectively and simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail, research and follow up skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
