Gastroenterology Associates, P.A. was founded in 1996 with 2 Physicians and 3 employees. We have grown over the last 24 years to a group with 9 board certified physicians, 7 Mid-level providers and over 90 employees. Our practice is the premier Gastroenterology group in the Hickory metropolitan area, providing care for patients from a multi-county area covering a 50 mile radius. We operate a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center that has been recognized for outstanding quality by the American Society for Gastroenterology Endoscopy (ASGE). Our ambulatory endoscopy facility is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and each year performs several thousand endoscopy exams safely in a comfortable outpatient setting. In addition to providing excellent outpatient Gastroenterology care, all of our providers are affiliated with Catawba Valley Medical Center and Frye Regional Medical Center, where we provide inpatient services.
Job Description
Non-exempt hourly position responsible for all aspects of coding and billing office and hospital charges. This is an on-site position.
Qualifications
Education:High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required. AAPC Certification required or based on years of experience and qualifications in Medical Coding.
Additional Information
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of CPT, Diagnosis and HCPCS codes.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Knowledge and understanding of billing practices and clinic policies and procedures.
Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret medical charts
- Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to accurately code and bill charges utilizing available resources for CPT, Diagnosis and HCPCS codes.
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve problems
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to plan, prioritize and complete tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms
- Ability to interact with people internally and externally
- Ability to keep up with changing insurance rules and determine the impact on practice cash flow.
