Position Summary
The Medical Coding Quality Analyst will be focused on development, creation, and management of content and data for coding, billing, auditing, risk adjustment, compliance, management, and other parts of the healthcare revenue stream. The Medical Coding Quality Analyst performs accuracy and quality assurance checks on coding tools, data, and content, such as crosswalks, data sets, and guideline references.
Responsibilities/Job Duties
- Research and quality check Medical Coding data, including code crosswalks, scrubber logics, and more
- Conduct quarterly and annual quality and functionality reviews of data updates and online tool performance
- Assist with code reviews for products such as books and coding reference charts
- Provide improvement feedback and ideas for data and tool updates
- Conduct coding subject matter expert (SME) reviews for content products as required
- Assist with coding/auditing cases from members to ensure accuracy and quality
- Contribute to member forums, providing authoritative and accurate responses to questions
- Collaborate with AAPC department heads and product owners on projects
- Ability to lead and work with a diverse group of subject matter experts on projects
- Provide sales support via emails and calls with customers when coding expertise is required
- Monitor subject matter developments and industry trends to suggest strategies for developing and improving content/data
- Participate in Medical Coding team meetings and decisions
- Minimum 5 years relevant coding and auditing experience, preferable in several specialties
- Pro-fee, outpatient facility, and inpatient experience preferable
- CPC, CCS, COC, or other coding credential required; CPMA and/or multiple coding credentials preferable
- Able to pass coding test
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral)
- Flexible and adaptable; able to switch projects and handle change
- Strong attention to detail
- Great team player
- Strong ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Ability to think critically and determine the best method for completing tasks
- Willing to take risks and fail; problem solver; solution-oriented approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with OneDrive and SharePoint a plus
- Willing to work extra hours, if needed
- Experience working with remote/international teams a plus
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
