Job Title: Day Porter
Position Type: Full-time
Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Job Summary:
The Day Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and organized environment within the hospital premises. Responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks, the Day Porter contributes to the overall well-being and safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a commitment to creating a hygienic and welcoming atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming, to ensure cleanliness in designated areas.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handrails, and light switches regularly.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed.
Waste Management:
- Collect and dispose of trash and medical waste in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper separation and disposal of recyclable materials.
- Environmental Maintenance:
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues, such as leaks, faulty equipment, or damaged furniture, to the appropriate department.
Communication:
- Collaborate with other hospital staff to address specific cleaning and maintenance needs.
- Report any safety concerns or potential hazards immediately.
Customer Service:
- Provide a friendly and helpful presence within the hospital by assisting visitors and patients with directions or information as needed.
Adherence to Regulations:
- Follow all hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and techniques.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
Working Conditions:
The Day Porter position involves a combination of indoor and outdoor work, and the individual may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and biological hazards. The schedule may include weekends and holidays based on the needs of the hospital.
Physical Requirements:
Standing, walking, reaching, stooping, crouching, pushing, and lifting up to 50lbs
