NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, located in the heart of Brooklyn, accommodate more than 518,076 outpatient visits, more than 141,328 emergency room visits, and with 627 beds, more than 25,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.
Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities
Join a growing team of innovative, committed and collaborative Addiction Medicine Physicians, Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Social Workers, Pharmacists and Peers providing state of the art care for patients with Substance Use Disorders at Kings County Hospital located in Central Brooklyn. The ideal candidate will be passionate about care for patients with SUDS and will strive to provide care in a way that reduces stigma and adheres to principles of harm reduction.
General Duties:
  • Assess and treat patients with Substance Use Disorders on the Addiction Consult Service and in the SUD Walk-In clinic.
  • Assess patients for medical and mental health needs related to SUD care.
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds to share assessments and recommendations.
  • Follow a panel of patients for ongoing care of OUD and AUD

Educational Activities:
  • Mentor and teach Psychiatry Interns and Medical Students on Addiction elective.
  • Option for faculty appointment through SUNY Downstate

Quality Assurance Activities:
Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities related to care of patients with SUD.
  • Assist programs as needed in maintaining regulatory compliance with all relevant agencies (OASAS, DOH, TJC, etc.)

Qualifications
CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
  • BCLS Certified
  • License to practice medicine in New York State
  • Board Certified in Addiction Medicine preferred

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical School and Residency in medical specialty
  • Experience in Behavioral Health and Substance Use by education and/or work history
