We are a small family, growing and fast paced practice located in Valparaiso. Looking for a friendly, professional medical assistant or LPN to float between front desk and medical assistant ( you must be a medical assistant or LPN, job will entail working the front desk and medical assisting). Looking for someone that wants to truly help patients, we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and patient care. Must be able to start immediately. Clinic hours are M-Th 8:30 to 5pm, looking for someone for 3 to 4 days a week.

Experience Requirements:
2-5 years of Medical Assisting or LPN experience.
Experience with Front Desk preferred but not required
Job Responsibilities:
Check in/out patients
Collect patient paperwork/keep accurate chart
Answering phones
Scheduling
Prepares patients for examination:
Greets patients
Obtains chief complaint from patient.
Takes B/P, weight, height, temperature, etc.
Assists with laboratory requisitions and assures lab pick-up.
Administers injections under the direction of a medical provider.
Updates and maintains patient charts.
Answers telephone calls and callbacks as instructed by registered nurse or a medical provider.
Performs simple medical procedures, such as earwax removal.
Identifies unsafe patient environment and discusses situations with the medical provider or designee.
Assists medical provider with wide variety of patient care procedures and tests; collects, labels, and processes specimens as required and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Performs routine tests (i.e. BS, UA, Pregnancy test, Strep test, blood draws, administering and reading TB tests, etc.) as ordered and/or performs Standing Orders according to established policies and procedures.
Maintains room cleaning schedule and restocks exam rooms
Conducts inventory of supplies and equipment for medical office/clinical area as needed or requested.
Maintains temperature controls on refrigerator for vaccine storage as required.
Calls patients regarding test results.
Identifies and draws up medication for immediate verification and use by medical provider
Maintains logs (i.e. medical logs, inventory update, etc.) and records for clinical area.
May be required to request medical records from other health care providers.
Relieves and substitutes for other medical assistants in all clinical areas as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training
High school diploma or equivalent
Graduate of a program for Medical Assistants/or LPN program
Graduate of an accredited 2-year Medical Assistant associates degree program (not required but highly preferred)
Experience
At least 1 year of work experience as Medical Assistant or LPN

Technology Skills
Operate a multi-line phone system and other office equipment including printers, fax machines, etc.
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, EHR, online sources, email, etc.)
Skill Requirements:
To be able to room patients quickly and efficiently.
To maintain friendly and professional behavior with patients.
Perform basic clinical tasks take bp, give injections, perform blood draws, collect lab samples, ect..
Answer the phone in a polite and professional manner.
Assist with checking patients in and out, and scheduling
Dispense medications
Maintain accurate medical charts
Multi-tasking and problem solving
Skill in using healthcare software (preference to those how have experience with Athena)
Knowlege of HIPAA law
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift at least 20lbs
Must be able to sit down in a chair or on the floor and get up without harming yourself.
Must be able to stand for 30 minutes without having any physical or health issues.
Must be able to run short distances (10 fee) without having health issues
Must be able to engage in physical activity throughout an 8-hour shift.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
