May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care.
Responsibilities:
· Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
· Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the restroom to provide a urine sample. Then accompanying the patient to the examining room; and obtaining and recording vitals, symptoms, and medical history
· Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of urine specimens and/or medical instruments post use.
· Assists the provider with procedures and operates the c-arm.
· Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
· Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
· Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions and troubleshooting breakdown..
· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
· Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and in office trainings.
· Enhances health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited college or vocational institution.
Experience: Minimum two years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant.
