Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do In This Role:

· As a Medical Assistant Transplant you will perform routine duties in caring for outpatient clinic patients as directed by the Registered Nurse and is able to demonstrate appropriate skills and/or competencies.

· You will screen and collect data from patients, including patient histories.

· You will assist with patient discharge preparations as instructed by RN.

· You will report and document pertinent information such as vital signs, weights.

· You will calls and/or fax prescription refills to the pharmacy following office protocols and/or after approval from physician. You will retrieve medication from pharmacy and transport to the clinic as directed by the RN.

· You will maintain confidentiality of patient information and records at all times.

· You will perform Electrocardiograms, Non-invasive hemodynamic testing, vital signs, weights, phlebotomy, injections, remove sutures/staples, simple dressing changes (clean and dry, sterile).

· You will assist with sterile procedures, simple, non-sterile dressings, and remove peripheral IV’s, record response to treatments and report pertinent information to appropriate RN.

· You will obtain and label specimens from wounds, Guiac stool specimens, Urine and sputum collection in cups, blood collection and transport specimens to lab as directed.

· You will provide assistance to other nursing personnel as needed.

· You will assist with the orientation of new personnel as appropriate.

· You will run errands, stock examination rooms, maintain cleanliness of patient rooms, and triage area on a daily basis. You will perform other duties as delegated by the RN.

· You will prepare charts and orders for patient’s upcoming clinic visit.

· You will assist with clerical duties as assigned, including medical records correspondence, scheduling procedures, and collecting testing reports for RN to review.

· You will coordinate patient testing for transplant evaluations.

· You will assist in other clerical duties such as answering telephone calls, pages. Medical assistant will triage messages appropriately to the RN.

What qualifications you will need:

· You must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent: required

· 2-3 years in the medical field as a Medical Assistant or Certified Nurse Aide required.

· Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

· You must have a Certified Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant Certification: required

• ABR-OE Assess Based Rec in Order Entry
• High School Graduate / GED
• Certified Medical Assistant, or NHA Cert Clinical Medical Assistant, or NAHP Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, or AMT Registered Medical Assistant
