Medical Assistants work in a team environment that is fast-paced. They are under general supervision and perform various patient care services including some delegated medical procedures when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Identify patient
- Prepare examination/Procedure rooms
- Ensure patient safety within the clinical setting
- Complete a comprehensive clinical intake process/including the purpose of the visit
- Measure vital signs
- Obtaining medical histories
- Height/Weight
- Blood pressure
- Updating Medication lists
- Identify/document/report abnormal signs and symptoms
- Assist provider with general physical examination
- Assist provider with specialty examinations
- Prepare patient for procedures
- Administer first aid and basic wound care if needed
- Identify and respond to emergency/priority situations
- Perform CPR
- Follow guidelines for sending orders for prescriptions and refills by telephone, fax, email
- Document relevant aspects of patient care in the patient chart
Collects, labels and delivers specimens to the laboratory.
Participates in performance improvement activities as they are available.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent bedside manner and ability to make patients feel at ease. Appears friendly, reassuring, and approachable to patients.
Ability to take instruction from a doctor.
Familiarity with medical charts and records.
High attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - At least 4 Years of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
