We are seeking a Medical Assistant. The position is largely virtual, with potential in-person. The role supports providers, members, and multidisciplinary care teams with requests related to medical service provision. Strong applicants can work with very dynamic teams in a growing company, are excited about our mission, are committed to helping people through a difficult time in their lives, and demonstrate an accepting attitude toward people with substance use disorders.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Respond and act on care requests from members via phone call or text
  • Relay member requests to their appropriate provider, and communicate the provider’s response to the member
  • Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary care team, including but not limited to referrals; lab/imaging ordering and diagnostic tracking; verifying medication lists, medical histories, and allergies; trouble-shooting prescriptions and appointments.
  • Effectively communicate with BLP teammates about member care and needs
  • Support in-person clinical care, including but not limited to registering members, taking vital signs, supporting minor procedures, and administering vaccines.

Qualifications:

  • You have previous experience in healthcare and an understanding of front and back operational processes
  • You can provide in-person clinical care, performing jobs such as taking vital signs, supporting minor procedures, administering vaccinations, etc
  • You have previous experience with substance use disorder care and/or harm reduction
  • You have experience working within a medical practice setting
  • You have experience with virtual work
  • You have experience with administrative duties
  • You are an expert in customer service and have strong interpersonal skills
  • You can manage time, organize, prioritize, and multitask easily with attention to detail
  • You’re equally comfortable working independently and closely with a team
  • You communicate swiftly via phone calls, text messages, emails, and instant message
  • You are adept with the use of EHRs and proficient in Google Suite
  • You have basic computer software and hardware proficiency, and troubleshooting competency
  • You desire to work in fast-paced, collaborative, and flexible environments
  • You’re eager to learn, adapt, and take initiative
The regular schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 10:30 am - 7:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The starting pay range for this position is $19.66 to $24.06 per hour.
This is a hybrid position. At least 2 days weekly or one week per month, you’ll work from our shared workspaces in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. When not in the shared workspaces, you’ll work from home.

Hybrid position requirements:

  • Must be within commutable distance of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to travel locally within the communities we serve.
  • Must have internet service with minimum upload/download ability.
  • The company will provide equipment (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset) plus a remote work stipend.
  • Must have a quiet space to speak to members with minimal background noise.
  • Must understand the importance of protected health information and ensure any data/information is not visible to others.
