DUTIES:
Greets patients and prepares them for physical examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests.
Takes vital signs and assists patients in patient flow through the clinic.
Prepares exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Stocks supplies. Sterilizes instruments.
Uses electronic systems to access and enter information as directed such as EMR, practice management IT systems and supply ordering protocols.
Enters clinical information into the appropriate patient chart including, but not limited to, vitals, consents, pain assessments, learning needs and barriers, medications, allergies, history, as required and/or directed.
Assists physicians, physician extenders and nurses with procedures and treatments as directed. Draws blood. Prepared and ready to assist physicians and nurses with procedures as directed.
Labels and maintains proper storage for specimens and tests. Delivers test and obtains results. Laboratory specimens are properly prepared, labeled and stored.
Accompanies patient to other areas as directed and assists in meeting patients needs for comfort and hygiene.
Performs quality control functions for assigned area, as directed. Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring entries are signed and legible.
Performs follow-up calls to patients regarding post-visit/post-procedure status. Records and documents all appropriate information in the appropriate IT systems and communicates to physician and/or nurse. Assists in scheduling of tests, appointments as directed.
Schedules patients for diagnostic tests, keeps record of the same, and instructs patients on any preparation necessary for their procedures both verbally and by giving appropriate patient information sheets.
