Part time Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-6:30pm and Sundays 8:15am-3:30pm or Saturday 7:15am-3:00 and Sunday 8:15am-3:30pm.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree; college degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a medical office working as a Medical Assistant.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Escorts patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times.
- Interviews patients to obtain history, family history, and history of allergies and medications and records information on patients’ charts.
- Prepares treatment room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physicians needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely.
- Assists physician with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions, ED&C, etc.
- Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits.
- Completely and correctly fills out all required pathology and laboratory requisition documents. Document laboratory pick-ups. Call Labs for outstanding tests.
- Answers telephone inquiries from patients, or primary care physicians.
- Stocks all exam rooms.
- Ensures patients receive medications that requires pre-authorization from insurance carrier.
- Receive, process and document all requirements, submit the required documentation, and update the Prior Authorization submission documents when necessary
- Review chart documentation to ensure patient meets medical policy guidelines
- Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency
- Obtain authorization via payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases
- Maintain files to include up to date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations
- Initiate appeals for denied authorizations
Spanish speaking a plus.
