Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Assistant delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the clinic manager and registered nurses (RN’s), the Medical Assistant assists the nursing staff in the Burn Service Line and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The Medical Assistant will assist in both front and back office duties including scheduling patient’s appointments, triaging phone calls, assisting with patient exams, rooming patients, procedure preparation, treatments, and patient education. The Medical Assistant will assist in performing other related duties necessary, and comply with all hospital policies and procedures, and observe the State of Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs
  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms with the necessary instruments for your patients including preparation and maintenance of supplies and equipment for treatments, including preparation for sterilization
  • Give injections and assist with lab testing and phlebotomy
  • Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals
  • Answer telephone calls to the practice and screen and schedule appointments who have been referred to the practice
  • Assist in referral management, scheduling of patients, and other light clerical duties as needed

What qualifications you will need:

  • Active and unrevoked RMA, CCMA, CMA, NCMA, or NCRMA certification/ABR-OE credentials.
  • BCLS
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ experience in an acute care setting

Shift:

  • Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 8 am - 5 pm
