Just who is the Medical Assistant Float? A person who thrives in a fast-paced, busy environment. A person who is able to efficiently provide patient care - and do it all day long and maybe not the same place each day. The ability to give the same level of attention and detail to each and every patient. Our float team brings that level of care and to every patient while It's a bit of a juggling act but if you think you have the skills then we need to talk.
Are you a Medical Assistant ready for the challenge of floating? Do you pride yourself on your empathy with patients? Are you a whiz at getting a patient ready for an exam or test? Do you value working in a faith-filled environment? Are you good at accurately recording patient stats and handling test results? If you said yes, you're just what we need in a Medical Assistant.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide direct patient care, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation.
Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills.
Enter patient information into the electronic medical records system and use systems to produce and conduct referrals, prior authorizations, medication research, and other related duties.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
Prior Medical Assisting experience preferred.
Knowledge of hematology/blood collection technology, techniques, and procedures.
Customer service skills.
Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
Follow directions as communicated in a variety of ways.
Show sincere interest in others and their concerns.
Understanding of patient handling techniques.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, generic and trade names, and ICD coding.
Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
