The Physician Clinics Medical Assistant works in coordination with Medical Providers and staff to provide high quality healthcare services to patients. Performs diagnostic testing on patients based upon appointment type and need. Supports the Front Desk Receptionist as needed as patient volume dictates.
Work with Medical Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
Perform patient intake duties based upon appointment type including taking vital signs and measurements, updating patient medical history and medication information in the EHR, and retrieving test results or chart notes as requested.
Be able to perform in-house diagnostic testing including EKGs, PFTs, Urinalysis and other CLIA-waived tests as requested by the provider.
Be able to perform treatments in the office under the direction of the medical provider such as ear lavage, wound care, and assisting providers with more complexed procedures.
Possess the ability to navigate an electronic health record system, update patient charts with patient-provided information or from other sources, and complete documentation of patient visits. Administer vaccines and therapeutic medications as directed by the provider.
Stock and clean exam rooms. Be knowledgeable of sterilization best practices to eliminate contamination and spread of infection.
Prepare specimens for transport to laboratories for testing
Maintain controlled substance logs, temperature logs, and emergency medications inventory. Check medical equipment as needed and advise the Practice Manager of any equipment due for maintenance or calibration.
Manage, order and store supplies including medication samples. Routinely check inventory levels and properly dispose of expired or outdated product.
Participate in monthly staff meetings.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, but not required.
Licenses & Certifications: Must have successfully completed a Medical Assistant Certification training course from an accredited school or university.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to level of experience, education, special skills and/or certifications.
