Emergency Room Tech Assistant --Medical Assistant (MA)
Shift:
Midnights 2 12's (6pm to 6am) and 2 8's (10pm to 6am)
Days 2 12's (6 am to 6pm) and 2 8's (6am to 2pm)
With training for the first 8 weeks can be on day shift.
MUST HAVE PREVIOUS ED EXPERIENCE OR OTHER EMERGENCY SETTING EXPERIENCE LIKE URGENT CARE
· Every other Weekend Rotation; Rotating Holidays
· Every other Monday; Every other Friday
· Training Orientation is 6 weeks on Day Shift

GENERAL SUMMARY
MA's assist with patient care based on individual needs within the scope of practice under direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Assistants assists RNs and physicians with assessments, examinations and treatments as requested. The following list of treatments/examinations is not inclusive and may vary by Business Unit: 1. Drawing blood and collection of specimens 2. EKG’s 3. Splint/immobilizers applications 4. Taking vital signs on adults and pediatric patients 5. Inserting neuro-gastric tubes and attaches it to the ordered drainage. 6. Urethral catherizations of adult patients 7. Application of sterile dressings 8. Starting unmedicated IV’s in Category II 9. Discontinuance of peripheral IV’s. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Position Details:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· A general knowledge such as that acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or G.E.D. required
· Previous Emergency Dept Technician
· MA or Nursing Assistant experience preferred
· BCLS certification required.
LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
· One of four certifications required:
§ B-EMT
§ Graduate Medical Assistant from an accredited program
§ Completion of a formal nursing education program to practice as an RN offshore
§ Completion of a formal medical doctor education program to practice as a medical doctor offshore
· EMT license preferred
· Successful completion of a 180-day orientation period required
