This position integrates Medical Assistant knowledge with computer science and information systems for health care providers using the electronic medical records. This position provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities
- Acts as a chaperone for health care providers during patient examination and assists with procedures, ensuring that the electronic medical record is efficiently and accurately being used.
- Performs administrative clinic duties to ensure that health care providers are following the hospital policies and procedure.
- Works in conjunction with coders to ensure that the health care providers are documenting and billing appropriately for laboratory procedures, EKG's, casts, splints, injections, suture removal and various specialty skills.
- Translates and communicates clinical needs to information technology staff and works to develop appropriate solutions.
- Conducts quality assurance testing prior to solution deployment to ensure functionality is working as designed.
- Provides support to outpatient clinicians during training, go live and after go live to ensure utilization of the solution is correct.
- May assist patient and family education by providing educational material and general health information using the electronic medical record.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.

Qualifications
QualificationsRequired- Three years of experience working with electronic medical records.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- One of the following
- Current Clinical Medical Assistant Certification through NHA.
- Current Advanced EMT certification with the State of Utah.
- Current certification to practice as a Paramedic in the State of Utah.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through AAMA
- Current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through AMT
- Current certification as a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through NCCT.
- Current certification as a NRCMA - Medical Assistant through the National Association for Health Professionals.
