Job Summary: The Medical Assistant provides support in the clinical and office functions for The Center of Primary Care. The incumbent serves as a key contact for patients visiting the department, greeting patients, schedules tests and procedures as well as providing explanation for such tests and procedures. Administer vaccines, job related tests, and other clinical support functions. Will answer any questions related to care coordination of the patient. Coordinates paperwork for patient visit, prepares patients for exams and tests, and serves as a resource to assist patients and staff in coordinating patient care. Schedules tests and visits, performs administrative/clerical duties, and provides backup to other staff to ensure efficient patient processing within the Department of Medicine. Performs clerical support that may include extensive scheduling duties including phone support and prior authorization completions. Performs data entry and other job-related duties.
Specifications: High school graduate. Must have completed certification as a Medical Assistant. Requires CPR certification and 3-5 years experience in administrative/medical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology, computer competency, knowledge of transcription, and strong typing skills needed. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in the English language and flexibility in hours when needed.
