As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the smooth operation of medical facilities. Your responsibilities will primarily involve assisting with patient care, performing clinical tasks, and maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and properly stocked.
- Escort patients to examination rooms, inquire about reason for coming, medical history, perform vital signs and record them all in the EMR system.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
- Perform medical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, ABI, Audiometry, Spirometry and wound care if needed.
- Administer medications, as directed by healthcare providers.
- Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR) accurately and confidentially.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and medications.
- Maintain medical equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including billing and insurance documentation.
- Collaborate with other healthcare staff to optimize patient care.
- Performs all other duties as trained and requested by provider and/or management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- At least two years experience in a medical office or clinical setting is an asset.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and instruments.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to lift and move patients when necessary.
- Spanish speaking skill is required
