Medical Assistant
Pathfinders Recovery Center is looking for a Medical Assistant to provide direct support to the clients at the facility. The Medical Assistant is responsible for all phases of medication administration, including the completion of accurate, timely documentation in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) that follows all state and federal guidelines. The Medical Assistant is the liaison between the doctor, pharmacy, payer sources and clients. Medical assistants carry out basic clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of licensed medical professionals.
Job Functions
- Accountable for taking stock of medications, administration, documentation, and the security of the medication room.
- Monitor self-administration of medication-documentation any irregularities with medication counts or medication errors
- Report any medication errors to supervisor as soon as detected
- Complete incident reports
- Ensure that providers' orders are accurate, gaining clarification when needed
- Coordination of care with pharmacy receiving, recording medications ordered
- Pick up mediations from the pharmacy and delivering to the respective facility
- Destroy discontinued medication bi-weekly, logging medications disposed of, method, client, and date with staff RN or Director present as witness
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of client's medications ordered and any changes to medications as ordered by appropriate medical staff.
- Complete and log client vitals as directed
- Collect and dispose of hazardous medical waste as directed
- Educating clients about medication functions and the importance of medication compliance. Reporting any non-compliance to direct supervisors
- Order and maintain all medical supplies needed for each location
- Assist in the intake process, recording all initial providers' orders and communicating with appropriate staff on correct administration.
- Assist with staff trainings on universal precautions, infection control and STD's
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements.
- Assist in psychoeducational groups to educate clients on different medications and the importance of Medication Assisted Treatment.
- Comply with all policies and procedures.
- Adhere to established standards of hygiene and universal infection control procedures in handling all samples and supplies.
- Adherence to a code of conduct conducive with BayMark Services policy is expected
- Assist with Urine Drug Screens, pregnancy test and referrals for other services as needed
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's license
- One (1) year of medical assistant experience or the completion of formal medical assist program
- Medical Assistant Appropriate certifications such as CMA, RMA, EMT, RMT, CCMA or other similar certifications is highly desired
- LPN license is a plus
- Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers
- Satisfactory criminal background check Pre-employment Drug Screen

Salary Range:
Generally starting at $18.00 an hour.
The salary of the candidate(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, specialty and training.
