The Medical Assistant is responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the visit, directing patients while in the clinic, and performing initial assessment and intake of information.
- Room patients and obtain medical, family, and social history.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment by observing, recording, and assessing patient’s condition.
- Take and record patient vital signs, and interview patient to fully understand the reason for the visit.
- Responsible for delivering patient care and assisting in procedures as directed by physicians.
- Maintain and update patient records with a high degree of accuracy in a timely and efficient manner.
- Experience with EMR (electronic medical record) system required; NextGen EMR preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and proficient with computers.
License/Certification/Education
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program (Associate’s degree)
- One to two years’ professional experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Must possess and maintain in good standing Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (or similar CMA certification)
- Must possess and maintain current BLS certification (can obtain within 3 months of hire if not currently certified)
