Title: Medical Assistant
NON-EXEMPT JOB
REPORT TO:
Office manager/Clinical lead
PURPOSE:
Assist providers with the delivery of patient care in the Emmaus Health practice setting which includes primary care and OB/GYN
NATURE OF SCOPE:
Greet patients and public, coordinate patient flow, and interact with all staff to assist in the delivery of care. Help to ensure that information is delivered in an accurate, efficient, and systematic manner. Work under the direction of managers and providers.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
KNOWLEDGE:
- HIPAA and regulatory policies
- Computer systems and software to promote functioning within the organization
- Safety hazards and precautions to establish and maintain a safe working environment
- Resources and information available to patients
DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:
- Maintaining and establishing working relationships with patients, providers, and clinic staff
- Room patients and check vital signs accurately
- Prioritizing work activities according to need and urgency
- Performing point of care testing independently, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Assisting providers with procedures (PAP, skin tag removal, shave biopsy, etc.)
- Documenting vital signs, updating allergies, and other patient information accurately in electronic medical record
- Ability to use clean and sterile technique for procedures and daily tasks
- Cleaning rooms, equipment, and maintaining clean work stations throughout the day
- Educating patients on preparation instructions for procedures and lab testing
- Providing and discussing educational materials at provider direction
- Recognizing abnormal lab and vital sign results and notifying provider
- Maintaining stock in various locations to inventory levels
- Accurate administration of vaccines and other medications at provider’s direction
- Telephone calls to patients, lab & pharmacy
- Patients- normal lab results and clarification
- Lab- errors in sending, collection and clarification
- Pharmacy- prescription information
EXPERIENCE
- One year minimum preferred, in a physician practice setting
- OB/Gyn experience preferred
CERTIFICATE / LICENSE:
Medical Assistant certification preferred
PRIMARY WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position, like all positions within a medical organization, may be exposed to blood and body fluids, specimens, toxins, chemicals, contagious diseases and odors, all associated with patient care/services. This position must follow all universal precautions associated with working conditions and includes proper attire, hygiene, safety procedures and compliance to all policies, standards and regulating laws in effect

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
