Description
The Medical Assistant/Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the execution of the daily Medical Assistant duties as well as assisting with Front Office activities. The Medical Assistant/Patient Services Specialist will ensure compliance with HIPAA/OSHA standards. At all times, the position will display excellence in customer service and exhibit the values of integrity and compassion. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Obtain Vital Signs.
- Collect Lab Specimens (Urine and Saliva Drug Testing).
- Ensure Proper Completion of Laboratory Paperwork.
- Recognize and register patients upon arrival.
- Verify current patient demographics.
- Collect co-pays and account balances.
- Check all insurance for accuracy, and perform eligibility checks.
- Maintain provider schedules ensuring they are fully booked at all times.
- Answer multi-line phone system and direct all calls to appropriate parties.
- Check voice mail for messages, and distribute accordingly.
- Answer all triage calls by taking a message/or referring to the back office.
- Schedule appointments for multiple offices, accurately and efficiently.
- Diligently handle medical records release and/or request.
- Perform TMS and Spravato treatments under the supervision of the Medical Director
- Return patient calls and relay messages to patients under the direction of the providers.
- Send out follow-up reminder notices.
- Monitor supplies used in the front office and notify the supervisor when inventory runs low.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all services offered to patients.
- Explain office policies to patients as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly reception/waiting room, entryway to office, and work area.
- Post over-the-counter payments and process bank cards.
- Reconcile daily activity report, and batch day sheet.
- Shred patient information to comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow HIPAA regulations.
- Follow OSHA rules and regulations.
- Follow Compliance rules and regulations against fraud and abuse.
- Maintain front office quality assurance.
- Handle a variety of matters including basic insurance knowledge, collections, operational, and customer service issues.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality.
- Ensure the patients are treated courteously and professionally.
- Deliver top-notch customer service to every patient that enters our doors.
- The ability to smile while the world crashes around us.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of medical office MA experience.
Applicants who frequently call in sick and/or are late are strongly discouraged from applying.
Must be comfortable with direct patient care and can perform complex tasks with exacting precision.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
Tactfulness.
Know how to speak to patients: what not to say and when not to say it
Pleasant phone manner and voice.
Must be a self-starter and dependable. I mean DEPENDABLE!!
Able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible.
Confident positive manner and appearance.
Customer service experience.
Word processing, data entry, 10-key, telephone, and computer experience
Medical Assisting Experience is REQUIRED.
