Medical Appointment Scheduler

JOB SUMMARY: The Appointment Scheduler assists patients, providers and clinical staff in the delivery of an excellent patient experience in a fast-paced neurosurgery or orthopedic clinic setting by answering incoming calls, scheduling patient clinical and imaging appointments, and providing quality customer service and follow up.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Deliver the highest quality customer service in a non-judgmental and non-discriminating manner, sensitive to patient needs.

· Answer incoming phone calls, listen to and interpret patients’ needs.

· Schedule and adjust clinical and imaging appointments as needed.

· Contribute to a team-oriented environment by engaging in constructive communication with providers and insurance carriers.

· Complete administrative tasks in a timely and organized manner such as sending correspondence, documenting calls, entering authorizations and updating demographics.

· Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in a customer service role or in a clinical, hospital or nursing care facility.

· Strong computer and typing skills to enter information quickly and accurately.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience in a scheduling and scheduling applications.

· Experience in a neurosurgery or orthopedic setting.

WORK CONDITIONS:

· Must be able to tolerate mostly stationary activity, including sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, talking, seeing, bending, and handling.

· Regular and reliable attendance.

· Office is in a healthcare clinic. Job will require contact with clinic staff, and patients.
