Job description

The Medical Administrative Assistant or locally referred to as the Administrative Officer of the Day (AOD) is a management position, located in the Health Administration Services (HAS), whose responsibility is to represent the Medical Center Director and the Chief Health Administration on all administrative matters occurring when assigned to other than a normal tour of duty (weekends, holidays, evenings, nights or WHEN hours).

  • Specialized Experience GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: interprets and applies medical and technical terminology associated with position; experience with medical and administrative records systems; ability to apply corresponding computer menus, software and web data bases relating to processing data for admission and determining legal entitlement.
  • Specialized Experience GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: interprets and applies medical and technical terminology associated with position; experience with medical and administrative records systems; ability to apply corresponding computer menus, software and web data bases relating to processing data for admission and determining legal entitlement.; interprets and applies HIPAA, Privacy Act and Freedom of lnformation Act requirements regarding release or disclosure of patient information; applying safety and fire prevention rules and regulations of facility and community disaster plans and procedures of emergency plans for work areas throughout the medical center; experience in providing orientation, situational and technical advise to medical and clinical staff regarding administrative operational policy and procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Education: There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 & GS-07 level.Employment Type: FULL_TIME
