Job Description
Are you a Pharmacist with management experience interested in leading the Medicaid Pharmacy team at the Utah Department of Health and Human Services?
The Division of Integrated Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Director to perform the following duties: Supervising and managing people and programs; manage the day-to-day activities of the Medicaid pharmacy program including coverage of drugs; quantities; new drugs; and explanation to providers and clients; developing, implementing and maintaining pharmacy clinical programs including: drug utilization board, prior authorization, and peer-to-peer education; working in a clinical pharmacist role in an evidence-based, outcome driven setting; evaluating clinical practice updates and applying them to policy decision-making and system operations; analyzing and interpreting medical and pharmacy claims data to identify potential opportunities for improving the pharmacy program; and understanding the Medicaid Pharmacy program requirements.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Must have active Utah Pharmacist license in good standing and without restrictions
  • PharmD with residency training
  • Clinical practice experience
  • Experience working for a state Medicaid program
  • Managed health care experience
  • Pharmacy benefits management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and use evidence-based practices to inform decision-making
  • Commitment to improving the health and well-being of Medicaid members in Utah

Example of Duties
  • Supervise and manage people and programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and Medicaid standards
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Medicaid pharmacy program including coverage of drugs; quantities; new drugs; and explanation to providers and members
  • Develop, implement and maintain pharmacy clinical programs including: drug utilization review board, prior authorization, and peer-to-peer education
  • Evaluate clinical practice updates and apply them to policy decision-making and system operations
  • Analyze and interpret medical and pharmacy claims data to identify potential opportunities for improving the pharmacy program
  • Administer managed care programs
  • Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely
  • Develop, implement and track assigned projects based on given due dates
  • Coordinate with wide variety stakeholders including medical and mental health policy team and providers
  • Develop competence assessment programs that ensure all pharmacy staff performs all duties and responsibilities with utmost efficiency and safety
