Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for completing Medicaid applications and Medicaid re-determinations for new and existing participants in addition to acting as a liaison between MDHHS and the MI Choice Waiver program.

Essential Functions:
- Facilitate successful interactions with participants, family members, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), financial institutions, and internal customers.
- Actively assists applicants of the MI Choice Waiver program in obtaining long term care Medicaid.
- Proactively supports successful re-determinations of long-term Medicaid status for MI Choice Waiver participants.
- Works with MDHHS Services to report, monitor and resolve issues with Medicaid eligibility, applications, and re-determinations.
- Complete appropriate program specific data entry into the Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System (CHAMPS) and/or Compass Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Notifies appropriate colleagues of potential participant coding issues in CHAMPS system.
- Provides support and education on Medicaid/financial eligibility to current and potential customers, internal team members, legal decision makers, community partners and others with a vested interested in the MI Choice Waiver Program.
- Maintains tracking records as well as documentation in Compass for those individuals’ seeking assistance with Medicaid application or Medicaid re-determination.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
- Prior experience working with Medicaid preferred.
- Prior human services experience preferred.
- Experience working with older adults and caregivers preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Non-Exempt position with starting hourly of $20.50 - $23.43, which will be adjusted for experience.
