Job Title: Resident Care Aid

Reports To: Resident Services Director (DON)
Summary:
Coordinates assistance to the residents in a manner that meets or exceeds community expectations; monitor medical supplies inventory; assist in implementation of orientation and training programs for residents, staff, and families. Support Resident Services Director, follows their lead, and projects a positive and professional strength to co-workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide assistance (or reminders) with activities of daily living (ADL’s). Assist residents in mobility.
- Supervise, provide information or needs, and encourage residents to participate in residence activities and social programs. Encourages independence to residents.
- Responds to emergency calls and situations including emergency evacuation if necessary.
- Documents care provided and resident history, noting unusual or significant changes in physical, mental or behavioral conditions.
- Obtains and documents vital signs, heights and weights as directed by the Resident Services Director.
- Comply with all resident rights and confidentiality.
- Remain updated to policies, procedures, and employee handbook. Attends minimum number of in-services annually as directed by the Florida Regulations.
- Provide residents with dining aid for all meals.
- Assists residents with self-administration of medications and documents on the MOR. Reports any medication errors promptly.
- Addresses behavioral issues or issues with level of care needs variations.
- Provide effective communication to caregiver at the adjacent shift to encourage a continuum of care.
- Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere with residents, residents’ families, visitors and staff.
- Projects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the resident, employee, residence, company information and records.
- Maintains a safe and secure working environment and practice safe working habits.
- Complies with the attendance policy.
- Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene, and appropriate attire.
- Participates in training, in services, and attends meetings as required.
- Assists with special projects as assigned and perform other related duties.

Ability to interpret medical directions and medication measurements. Able to document all assignments thoroughly including medication observations.
- Mathematical Skills:
Able to multiply and divide by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Able to use all liquid measurements.Ability to use weight measurements.
Reasoning Ability:
Demonstrates observation skills. Able to make decisions to address simple variations to standards. Able to make appropriate decisions of when to call for assistance.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) and Medication Assistance certification preferred.
