JOB TITLE: MED TECH
REPORTS TO: Wellness Manager/ Administrator
FLSA STATUS: Non- Exempt
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: PM shift (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm )
The Med Tech/Personal Caregiver (PC) will work under the direction of the Administrator and Wellness Manager to ensure that quality service is provided to all residents while functioning within the guidelines of regulation and policy.
- Assist in maintaining resident care (ADL’s, supervision, safety, documentation, activity, escorting.
- Complete medication management and administration per Title 24 regulations and company policy.
- Communicate & report regularly to the supervisor and administrator & provide status reports for resident care.
- Understand and follow each shift’s specific assignments, in addition to the regular routine.
- Med pass to residents.
HANDLING CRISIS: CALL 911 for any life-threatening emergency.
- Med Tech /PC on duty is in charge to address all emergency situations, call 911 for any emergency, life threatening or injury to resident or staff.
- Conduct complete assessment of the situation and make suitable judgement call which may change based upon the nature of the crisis.
- Knowledge of Company’s Emergency and Non-emergency and reporting policy.
- Provide basic emergency care as determined by the needs of the residents by providing basic first aid.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year experience in Medication management. One year experience in caregiving within a community.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, & the ability to speak and write in English.
- Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision appropriate to the residents.
- Ability to supervise the resident and medication management within established guidelines & procedures.
- Title 22 required current 16 hours certification and continued 8 hours annual Med Tech training.
- Has current Adult First Aid card /CPR upon hire and maintains current status throughout employment.
- This position requires multiple tasking, hospitality, customer service, flexibility to cover shifts /call offs and cross training/ rotation between the AL and SCU resident care assignments, medication pass and “fill in” roles outside their primary job responsibilities (delegated by the Supervisor or the Dept Lead).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
In a typical (8) hour shift, Med tech/PC will routinely be required to stoop, carry, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, climb, grip, reach, lift, push and pull. Med Tech/PC-CNA will also occasionally be required to lift overhead, waist high and floor level. The maximum lift will be (50) pounds. Company requires always two persons assistance for lifting or transferring resident. Med tech will also be required to use fine motor and manual dexterity skills in using walkie talkies, writing and grasping. MED TECH/PC- CNA may be subject to Potential exposure to infectious waste, disease and conditions etc., including TB, HIV, and Hepatitis B.
