PT Med Tech 2:00pm-10:00pmLocation: Lititz, PA, 17543Skills: Primary Accountability: The Medication Technician will administer medication, provide direct care, and oversee daily service delivery in Personal Care, including coordination of dining services, direct care, and life enrichment. The Medication Technician is responsible for compliance with all applicable regulations, standards of UZRC policies, and the fulfillment of duty of care obligations.Responsible to: Director of Personal CareEssential Responsibilities & Duties:
  1. Supervision of Personal Care Aide
  2. Prepare, administer, and document medications and treatments in records progress notes, weights, vital signs, and any other required documentation.
  3. Process physician orders and faxes accurately.
  4. Transcribes physician orders appropriately and accurately.
  5. Notifies pharmacy of changes in medication or need for refills.
  6. Ensure labs are scheduled in the system.
  7. Reviews monthly orders and makes changes where needed.
  8. Assists with admissions, discharges by retrieving orders, faxing orders to MD for approval, prepare medicine packets as necessary, review discharge items, review and communicate upcoming resident appointments.
  9. In cases where death occurs, contact the undertaker, family, 911 if codes and the administrator as applicable.
  10. Observes and reports changes in residents’ condition to PCHA, MD, and family per protocol outlined in policies and procedures.
  11. Answer call bells and respond to resident requests promptly.
  12. Supervise/Assist or transport residents from one place to another.
  13. Assist in bathing/dressing and personal hygiene, bed making, tray service to ill residents,
  14. Encourage residents to maximize their capabilities.
  15. Maintain tidy/safe work environment including the PC Care Center, resident rooms, and utility/storage.
  16. Measure and record residents' heights, weights, and blood pressures.
  17. Attend in-service opportunities and staff meetings regularly.
  18. Maintain the required 12 hours or more of annual training related to job duties.
  19. Maintain proper infection control procedures, including cleaning equipment after each use.
  20. Ensure residents rights are maintained.
  21. Complete education and training required annually, including diabetic education.
Position Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED, Medical Technician Certification, and CPR Certification Required
  • Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in similar role or specialized training required; Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience required
  • Additional Qualifications Required: Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English required. Knowledge of DHS regulations helpful Ability to use resident assist-devices, scales, wheelchairs, bed full mechanical lift, blood pressure apparatus, stethoscope, thermometer, glucometer, gait belt, and pulse oximetry essential.
