Description
Under the direction of the Med Tech Supervisor, the Med Tech provides care to clients during their acute stages of detoxification. The Med Tech provides a wide range of interventions and support techniques. Duties include and are not limited to assisting in the administration of medications, monitoring of vitals, and progress of detoxification. The Med Tech will work closely and under the supervision of a paramedic, nurse, and physician. To ensure success, you must possess the ability to make judicious decisions, be knowledgeable, and have outstanding people skills.
Schedule:

  • Full Time (32-40 hours) Night Shift (7pm-7am) weekend availability
  • Requested schedules will be taken into consideration. However permanent schedules will be decided based on the operational needs of SFRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works along with EMTs, Nurses, and Providers.
  • Assess potential clients and deem them as an appropriate candidate for the detox treatment program, particularly referrals made by Christus St. Vincent's Hospital.
  • Conducts BAC and observed urine drug screens as requested and necessary per protocol.
  • Performs CIWA and COWS scale for Alcohol and Opioid withdrawal clients.
  • Monitors client vitals as necessary and as requested by medical providers.
  • Performs other duties in accordance with SFRC policies and procedures.
  • Assists clients with the administration of medications according to medical orders; responsible for creating and documenting as appropriate on MAR sheets.
  • Assists with admission and orientation of new clients admitted to the facility.
  • Completes rounds every 15 - 30 minutes on all shifts.
  • Monitors client chores and laundry according to daily schedule.
  • Performs count of medications each shift per established procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with State and Federal law, the SFRC code of ethics, and SFRC policies and procedures.
  • Participates in regular chart reviews and other Quality Assurance processes.
  • Completes admission, interdisciplinary, and discharge notes based on daily encounters.
  • Ensures oversight of linens and other program supplies; inventory, dispense, and maintain linen and towels, and ensure clients sign out and return linens as instructed.
  • Attends seminars and workshops as necessary to ensure compliance and fidelity with new and existing evidence-based modalities and treatment approaches utilized by SFRC.
  • Provides coordination, availability, and full participation in all aspects of any programmatic review, survey, site visits, and/or program evaluation.
  • Understands and maintains HIPAA and 42CFR Part 2 confidentiality standards relative to SFRC.
  • Performs and/or coordinates other special assignments and tasks, as required, by medical providers.
  • Complete Incident Report forms prior to the end of a shift if applicable.
  • Transport clients in accordance?with SFRC policies and procedures.
  • Provide basic life support if necessary.
  • Maintains professionalism with clients at all times and must never have personal relationships with any clients.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  2. Medical Assistant, CNA, or EMT certificate (preferred) or equivalent experience working on the job.
  3. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  4. Ability to exercise tact, patience, and discretion when dealing with residents, families, staff, and the public.
  5. Ability to relate with understanding and kindness to residents and their families.
  6. Ability to keep observations, conversations, and information confidential.
  7. Must be computer literate in order to effectively maintain compliance with licensing and certification standards and requirements for use of computerized client records & data systems.
  8. Must have and maintain a valid NM Driver's License.
  9. Must also have and maintain a clean driving record, as well as auto insurance.
  10. In the case of a recovering person, he/she must have successfully maintained a two (2) year period of uninterrupted abstinence from alcohol and/or drugs.
  11. Healthcare CPR and First Aid certification.
  12. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
  13. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred. (English/Spanish).
