Base Pay Range: $70,700.00 - $120,200.00 Annually Primary Location: USA-MI-Ann Arbor-KLA KLA's total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits identified below. Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join our team working on innovative semiconductor inspection and metrology tools. Leading candidates will have interest and some experience in engineering areas such as control system modeling and development (PID and beyond), precision machine design, and even coding in python, LabVIEW, and MATLAB. Candidates should enjoy technical challenges, collaboration, and the delivery of great results. This Central Engineering role will connect you directly with the breadth of KLA's amazing metrology and inspection tools. Our groundbreaking technology offers growth opportunities in controls/mechatronics as well as related work on test bench development, data analysis and visualization, and modeling/finite element analysis.

The successful candidate will be an important contributor on projects to:

  • Design, build, and integrate high-performance motion systems for KLA semiconductor process control tools
  • Analyze and simulate mechanical/mechatronic components and assemblies
  • Specify, document, and procure components for mechatronic systems
  • Develop concepts to meet structural and dynamic system requirements
  • Design and build systems to control, inspect, and measure products and processes
  • Investigate the cost, schedule, and scope of potential design options
  • Contribute to system-level performance discussions and design reviews
  • Help resolve customer issues.

Desired qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field
  • Experience designing mechanical hardware in CAD
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or python for data analysis
  • LabVIEW experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be persistent, thoughtful, and a great teammate
  • Willing and able to travel domestic and internationally (not to exceed 20%).

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years
