Job Description Summary
The Mechatronics CAE Engineer will be responsible for interfacing with customer on gearbox system level analysis including efficiency, durability, or NVH of gearboxes, as well as developing physics-based multi-body dynamics models of driveline products to evaluate product performance, identify risks, and provide design recommendations.

  • Builds MASTA models from scratch.
  • Performs power flow and system deflection analyses including advanced system deflection analysis with FE housing and components involving parametric study and scripting.
  • Develops multi-body dynamics models for automotive driveline products.
  • Conducts modeling and analysis to identify risks where designs may not meet specifications.
  • Performs design iterations and optimization studies to identify best design solutions to meet design specifications and customer requirements.
  • Refine current standard analysis methods to improve prediction fidelity and develop new CAE techniques
  • Participates and contributes to program peer reviews, analytical design verification plan and report (DVP&R), design best practices and lessons learned documentation.
  • Creates and presents analytical reports to internal and external customers.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education
  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or related engineering fields
  • 2-5 years of experience in gearbox analysis tools such as MASTA or Romax
  • 1-2 years of experience in developing multibody dynamics models using ADAMS, AMESIM or equivalent
  • Experience in gearbox system level analysis including efficiency, durability, or NVH of gearboxes
  • Experience using CAD tools such as Spaceclaim, CATIA or NX
  • Experience in problem solving, troubleshooting, and quick thinking
  • Fundamental understanding of gear theory, bearing types, shafts, seals, lubrication, etc.
  • Knowledge in Finite Element Analysis
  • Knowledge of onventional and electrified driveline system functionality
  • Proficient in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Technical writing and presentations skills
  • Self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and able to work independently
