Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this position, you will be responsible for constructing, maintaining and repairing all machinery and vehicles. Your duties will include monitoring inventory, inspecting vehicles, and assembling machinery. On call during storm cycles to remove snow from highway and or parking lot locations.

To succeed in this role, you should be physically and mentally fit and have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic's tools, service, diagnostic equipment and familiarization with snow plows and front end loaders. Our ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and customer service skills.

Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles.
  • Meet with teams to better understand their concerns and identify the issue.
  • Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
  • Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
  • Perform vehicle assessments and alert clients on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
  • Other duties as assigned

Mechanic Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certification from a vocational school or trade school is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
  • Analyzing diagnostic test results.
  • Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems.
  • Checking vehicle lighting systems.
  • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
  • Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
  • Maintaining a parts inventory.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.

Diesel Mechanic Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • ASE Diesel Certification advantageous but not required.
  • Valid driver's license. CDL is preferred, but not required
  • Aptitude for mathematics and science.
  • Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
  • Good IT and diagnostic skills.
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.

Detail Overview of Responsibilities of Plow Operator:

  • Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events
  • Prepare and show up for shifts free from the influence of any drugs, alcohol, or medicines that have an effect on safe and productive equipment operation.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Clear snow from resort sites from designated areas (marked on site maps)
  • Pile snow in designated and approved locations only.
  • Operate vehicles and snow plow equipment in a safe, responsible and efficient manner following all recommended operating procedures and DOT requirements
  • Control ice accumulations at jobsites with the safe and responsible use of de-icing agents (salt, treated salt, liquids or other de-icing chemicals)
  • Be available for communication at all times during a shift and before/after shifts
  • Accurately document site service records for each and every site including times, services performed, weather conditions etc.
  • Submit paperwork and documentation promptly at the end of each shift
  • Document and report any obstacles at site(s)
  • Perform basic maintenance and small repairs on vehicles and equipment as required.

Snow Removal Requirements:

  • Minimum completion of high school
  • Valid CDL drivers' license and/or equipment operators certificate(s)
  • Safe driving record - able to submit a driver's abstract (infractions history) upon request
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating snowplows and/or snowplow equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret maps
  • Documentation knowledge of: driver logbook; pre-trip and post-trip inspections; maintenance and repair reports; and trip reports
  • Physically fit with strong stamina
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Speak, read, and write English
  • Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting

Work Conditions:

  • Various locations including both residential and commercial sites
  • Extremely flexible working hours, including nights, weekend, and holiday work
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Work safely near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including extreme cold, rain, dust, noise, and wet conditions
